SECURITY SERVICE (AVIATION & NON AVIATION)

Aviation Security (Avsec), based on the definition set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), is a combination of human resources that play an important role for the aviation industry in preventing civil aviation from acts of terrorism and against the law.

In addition to its main task in ensuring flight safety, Avsec also has a role to assist state security agencies preventing of drug trafficking and the smuggling of endangered species from and abroad. Avsec officers have the authority to carry out inspection, screening, supervision and licensing, both for passengers, baggage and airport employees.

Avsec of PT IAS Support Indonesia (IASS), which has been operating since 2015, currently has 2,024 personnel with 1,780 of them located at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Service Description

Avsec officers are responsible for ensuring airport security on all sides. In the terminal area, the coverage of Avsec's guarding area includes Public Area, Restricted Public Area, and Non Public Area. While in the outer terminal area, Avsec also patrols the perimeter areas

In carrying out its duties, Avsec personnel are supported by a variety of work equipment and equipment. For example in the Security Check Point (SCP) I and II areas, Avsec personnel use X-Ray devices, hand held metal detectors, and Walk Through Metal Detectors (WTMD) to detect prohibited items, such as explosive devices, dangerous goods, prohibited goods, and weapons, both on thapse bagage and the passenger body. In addition, officers also carry communication devices such as handy talkies (HT) to facilitate communication between personnel while on duty. Motorized vehicles are used for Avsec personnel operating in the airport perimeter area.

Apart from its role as the front guard of airport security, Avsec officers also work in the transfer desk area to direct transit or transfer passengers who will make the next flight

Regarding the level of personnel, the Avsec unit is divided into 3 Basic Avsec, Junior Avsec, and Senior Avsec. Basic Avsec has the task of manually checking people and managing traffic of goods. While Junior Avsec is in charge of operating the X-Ray device and monitoring it through a monitor. The highest level, which is Senior Avsec, acts as a supervisor or team leader in charge of overseeing the overall Avsec performance.

In maintaining the quality of the performance of each personnel, IASS conducts daily training called Local Training. The training, which was conducted in conjunction with the organic Avsec AP II unit, discussed security regulations based on the latest IATA (International Air Transport Association) and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) rules.

The Avsec IASS unit is required to uphold discipline and integrity in work. Firm to enforce regulations to ensure flight safety.

Development plan

- Transferring the type of business from the labor supply to the service provider. The role of Avsec IASS will not only be an HR provider, but also as an HR manager.

- Expanding Avsec business to airports in other provinces, such as Lampung, Bengkulu, Bintan, Palangkaraya and Purwokerto.

- Establish consultancy and audit services to assess avsec performance in all Indonesian airports. This consulting and audit service is also planned to be intended for security units of other companies that are engaged in the field of airport services.
